Onion is considered as a superfood for its impressive health related properties. Indeed, it is packed with nutrients, and it has unnumbered health benefits. Among them, we can name its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties But, did you know that onions can also be used to prevent and treat hair loss? Sometimes we despair to find solutions to many of our problems while some answers are right in front of us and can be found in our kitchen!

How can we use onions to fight and treat hair loss?
How can we ever list all the recipes we can make with onion to prevent and treat hair loss. There are so many…. We will describe here some that we have tried and can truly testify to their effectiveness.
All these recipes are to be used directly on the scalp. Always gently massage the scalp for better blood circulation and to let the treatment deeply penetrate the scalp. Do not forget to wash your hair the same day or the flowing day.
- Onion juice
- Onion juice can be applied directly to the scalp 30 minutes before shampooing or a day before washing our hair to maximize the results. After application, always massage the scalp gently to let it deeply penetrate the scalp.
- To obtain the onion juice, use 1 onion (or more depending on the length of the hair). Put it in a juice extractor to obtain the juice. If you don’t have an extractor, just use a vegetable chopper or a cheese grater. Next, use a thin cloth or a strainer to extract the juice.
- Onion juice and olive oil
The juice of an onion to which 2 teaspoons of olive oil are added.
- Onion juice, coconut oil and castor oil
The juice of an onion to which ½ teaspoon of coconut oil and ½ teaspoon of castor oil are added.
- Onion juice and honey
Onion juice can be combined with honey to reduce dandruff and to treat hair loss.
- Onion juice and egg
Mix an egg with the juice of an onion into a mask that can help to calm an itchy scalp, restoring hair’s shine and fighting hair loss.
- Onion juice and the oil of your choice
The juice of an onion to which 1 spoon of the oil of your choice is added. Argan oil, jojoba oil, rosemary, avocado, vitamin E. fenugreek, neem oil are among the oils that are highly beneficial for your scalp and hair’s health.
- Onion oils
Can we make our own onion oil? Off course. It is not complicated at all. For the following recipes, it is better to use glass containers.
Cut an onion into small pieces. Mix it with ½ cup of pure olive oil. Close tightly in a container and let it macerate for 20 days. Apply this oil as an oil bath before shampooing or a day before washing your hair. It should be noted that onion’s oil smell is very strong.
- We can also make onion and garlic oil
Cut an onion, 5 cloves of garlic into small pieces. Mix with ½ cup of olive oil. Close tightly and macerate for at least 20 days. Apply this oil as an oil bath before shampooing or a day before washing your hair. Very strong smell. This mixture is very powerful since garlic is rich in nutrients which can nourish, strengthen and stimulate hair growth.
- Onion and clove oil
Cut an onion and add 10 cloves to it. Mix with ½ cup of olive oil. Close tightly and let macerate for at least 20 days. Apply this oil as an oil bath before shampooing or a day before washing your hair. Very strong smell.
- Onion and castor oil
And finally, let’s not forget about our star oil, castor oil! We can mix onion and castor oil for an all-purpose hair oil. Cut an onion to which ½ cup of castor oil is added. Keep the mixture tightly closed in a container and use it after 20 days.
